So here is a quick little about me: I'm a freshman at SJSU. Just kidding, there's more than that. I do live on campus in San Jose but I'm from Southern California, so I'm getting the whole college experience. I like to have fun but I also know when "play time" is over and I think that's a good quality to have. I am learning everyday and I recognize that, I am also a very curious person. That may have something to do with me taking this class. I am really excited and happy I have the opportunity to take this class because I am not sure what I want to do in life and hopefully this will help lead me in the right direction. I am easy to get along with and I almost always have a smile on! I think that's me in a nutshell.

I chose my About Me for this class because that is my most "me" piece of writing that was about 100 words. Comparing it to my FOG index my writing is not exactly "mature". The "hard" words I use are common and not too complicated and there aren't very many of them. This just shows that maybe I need to broaden my vocabulary a little more.

On the other hand, our text notes that most experts suggest you aim for a Fog Index of 7, 8 or 9.
ReplyDeleteSo, yes, you should keep improving your vocabulary ... but you don't need to make your writing more complex just for the sake of being complex. Simple and straightforward (and easily understood) is good.
